One of the significant changes introduced by FASA was raising the simplified acquisition threshold from $25,000 to $100,000, and later to $250,000, making it easier for contractors to access federal contracts. Certain modifications may necessitate preliminary price negotiations to protect the governments interests.

The first group of negotiated prices are for 10 Medicare Part D drugs that treat a variety of conditions including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, autoimmune diseases and cancer. The negotiated pricing is the first in a series that will be conducted through the Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Program.
