The Portuguese government is planning to introduce mandatory greenpublicprocurement criteria in the near future. At the very least this particular draft resolution contains instructions binding to government departments as well as the wider public administration such as publicly owned companies for example.
Thanks to a small grant from Schmidt Futures , we had the opportunity to experiment with applying artificial intelligence technologies to greenpublicprocurement. The goal is to increase the understanding of AI in publicprocurement – by discussing the key decisions we had to make about our approach.

CivicDataLab analyzed Assams publicprocurement data to estimate the share of greenpublicprocurement (GPP). GPP refers to procurement that incorporates climate and environmental goals. CivicDataLab developed a methodology to identify and measure greenpublicprocurement using tender titles.
